Heart and Stroke Warmer 10km

So I decided to do it...I actually signed up for this 10km not really sure if I was fully prepared to do it! It was pretty chilly out and a few good inclines but I manged to get my butt out to the start line and run in the middle of the pack. There were about 50 participants so it was a small group, actually this was the first race of it's kind. The running route followed the road that took us along the waterfront down to a subdivision turn around and back again. A fairly straight forward route...so my time (not my best but not bad)...1:01:54! I am pretty proud of that, I signed up on my own, ran on my own but at the finish line I was not alone. Harold and Nolan came to cheer for me, it was so great to see them! Nolan told me I looked like I had a sunburn on my face, he was kind of right I think I had wind burn, I do get pretty red when I workout:) As a finisher I got a cute heart medal that has the Heart and Stroke logo on it, I have written the date and time of my race on the back and will add it to my small but growing collection. So I accomplished my goal of getting out and being active plus I ran in the cold which is a challenge for me, would I have just gone for a long run without this race...hmmm probably not! Thanks Heart and Stroke for setting up the 10km Warmer and congrats on raising over 2500 dollars for your charity!

The beginning...

Well I had a thought that I needed to put some ideas down on paper...well in this case on the computer and what better way to display my thoughts than with a blog! I came to the realization over 2 years ago that I needed to do something active everyday. I have been fairly good at making this happen but as we all know life tends to get in the way. One way to keep me motivated has been to sign up for different events such as running events or even attempting a sprint triathlon! In this blog I will try to keep a record of my events, trainning or simply what activity I have done...it will be for me but if you want to read on and help me out you are more than welcome:) To a healthy, fit and happy body!
